Functional Movement Care
What to Expect
Functional Movement Care is a collaborative, hands-on process. Because every horse has a unique history and career, there is no "one size fits all" session. During our time together, I utilize a blend of manual modalities tailored to your horse's specific needs that day.
These techniques focus on:
Myofascial Release: Easing restrictions in the connective tissue to encourage better movement and posture.
Targeted Stretching: Gently facilitating range-of-motion work to maintain flexibility in the joints and muscles.
Emotional & Energetic Release: We often find that physical tension is paired with emotional holding. By creating a calm, safe space, I encourage the horse to release stored stress, helping them return to a state of emotional and physical equilibrium.
Rhythmic Body Balancing: Working with the horse’s nervous system to promote deep mental relaxation.
Biomechanical Optimization: Assessing how the body is functioning to help prevent future discomfort and improve performance.
Who Benefits from Functional Movement Care?
Whether your horse is a high-performance athlete or a beloved companion, they deserve to feel their best in their own skin. My practice supports:
Performance Horses: Keeping the body fluid, helping them stay "unlocked" and ready for the demands of the show ring.
Senior Horses: Providing gentle, restorative support to manage daily comfort, release old tension, and maintain range of motion.
Rehabilitating/Returning to Work: Offering non-invasive support as they transition back into a regular exercise program.
Horses Navigating Stress: Helping horses who have experienced transitions, travel, or changes in their environment find a sense of physical and emotional "settling."
My Philosophy
My journey into this work began with my own horse, Zar. He taught me that the most powerful thing we can do for our equine partners is listen—to their movement, their behavior, and their emotional needs. He showed me that a horse’s body is a map of their experiences. Today, I bring that same level of devotion to every horse I work with. I’m not just here to "fix" a physical problem; I’m here to partner with you in your horse’s long-term wellness journey, ensuring they feel heard, comfortable, and at peace.
